RUSTON ? McNeese State swept Louisiana Tech in a softball doubleheader Wednesday by the scores of 2-0 and 3-2 at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

Jana Jones (7-6) held Louisiana Tech to only three hits in a complete-game shutout in the first contest of the day, besting Lady Techster starter Krissi Oliver (15-16) who allowed two runs ? one earned ? in seven innings on seven hits and two walks.

With the game scoreless in the bottom of the third, Tech put runners on first and third with no outs on consecutive singles by Carly White and Jessica Kirby. However, Jones retired three straight Tech hitters without allowing a run.

The Cowgirls capitalized on the momentum plating two runs on two hits and one Tech error in the top of the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead.

Tech (20-24) would not threaten again as Jones retired 15 of the last 16 batters of the game with the lone baserunner coming on a Danielle Sheridan single in the bottom of the sixth inning.

In the second game of the day, McNeese State scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings off Tech starter Mandi Bertsch. The Cowgirls led 2-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning when Tech?s Ashley Cameron hit a two-run home run to centerfield to tie the game at 2-2.

The Cowgirls retook a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth inning. Tech threatened in the fifth and seventh innings but could not plate the tying run.

Emma Barnes led Tech with four hits in the nightcap while Cameron added two.

Bertsch (4-6) took the loss, allowing three runs ? two earned ? on 10 hits in the complete game performance.
