MONROE ? UL-Monroe overcame an early deficit to down Louisiana Tech 5-2 Tuesday night at ULM Softball Complex.
Tech (20-28) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead by plating two runs on three hits in the top of the second inning before the Warhawks (21-31) scored the final five runs of the game to win the season series 2-1.
The Lady Techsters started the second frame with a single down the left field line by Ashley Cameron followed by a walk to Kyle Bassett. Regan Clark then singled up the middle, scoring pinch runner Lyndsey McIlwain and giving Tech a 1-0 lead.
After two flyouts by the Techsters, Danielle Sheridan singled to left field scoring Bassett and upping the Tech advantage to 2-0.
UL-Monroe tied the game on a two-run home run by Lindsey Taylor in the bottom of the second inning off Tech starter Krissi Oliver.
The Warhawks then took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a one-out single by Jamie Liles. Tech thrwarted another UL-Monroe run when Sheridan threw out a potential run at home plate ending the fifth inning.
After Tech failed to score in the top of the sixth inning, UL-Monroe took advantage of three Lady Techster errors in their half of the frame to score two more runs and pull out the 5-2 victory.
Emma Barnes and Clark led Tech with two hits each.
Oliver (15-19) picked up the loss allowing five runs ? three earned ? on seven hits and one walk in 6.0 innings of work.
Tech returns to action Wednesday in a doubleheader against the Arkansas LadyBacks in Sherwood, Ark., starting at 5:30 p.m.
