RUSTON ? Liz Robertson?s two-out run scoring single in the top of the eighth inning lifted San Jose State to a 3-2 win over Louisiana Tech Friday night in Western Athletic Conference Softball action.

After Tech starter Krissi Oliver (14-15) retired the first two batters of the frame, Kasey Igarta tripled to deep right center field and scored on Robertson?s single through the right side of the infield to give the Spartans a 3-2 lead.

San Jose State starter Roxanne Bejarano (12-9) then struck out the side in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Spartans took the first of a three-game series. The two teams are set to play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.

After San Jose State (17-18, 2-5 WAC) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an unearned run, Tech answered in the bottom half of the frame as Emma Barnes scored on an Ashley Cameron double off the right centerfield wall to tie the game at 1-1.

The Spartans took their second lead of the game at 2-1 in the top of the third inning before Tech once again answered in the bottom half of the frame as Barnes scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.
