NATCHITOCHES, La. ? Louisiana Tech snapped its 11 game losing streak with a 5-2 win over Northwestern State Wednesday evening at Demon Diamond.

Tech (21-33) received a strong pitching performance from sophomore Krissi Oliver and took advantage of six Northwestern State errors to record its first win since April 7.

The Lady Techsters jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by senior Ashley Cameron, scoring Emma Barnes who led the inning off by being hit by a pitch.

Tech increased its lead to 2-0 in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by freshman Amberly Waits, scoring Rochelle Sandberg who led the frame off with a double to left field.

Northwestern State (27-28) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring two runs on three hits off Oliver.

However, Tech responded and took a 4-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning thanks to two costly errors by the Demons. After Waits and Cameron both reached base safely on errors by the Northwestern State infielders, Kylie Bassett drove them home on a two-out single up the middle.

The Lady Techsters upped their advantage to 5-2 in the sixth by scoring one run on two more NSU miscues.

Oliver (16-23) picked up the win for Tech, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in the complete game victory.

Sandberg led Tech with two hits while Waits, Bassett and Danielle Sheridan each recorded one hit each.

Tech concludes regular season play this weekend when its hosts Nevada for a single game Friday night and a doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
