RUSTON ? Louisiana Tech managed only one hit in a 2-0 loss to Nevada in Western Athletic Conference play Friday night at the Cedar Creek High School Softball Complex.

Nevada pitcher Jordan McPherson allowed only four base runners in the complete-game victory as Tech junior Rochelle Sandberg recorded the lone hit of the night for the Lady Techsters (21-34, 3-10), a single past the diving second baseman in the sixth inning.

Tech hurler Krissi Oliver (16-24) was almost as impressive allowing only one earned run on seven hits in the tough-luck loss.

Nevada (23-29, 7-9) plated the first run of the game in the top of the second inning. With a runner on first and two outs, Oliver allowed consecutive singles to centerfield, the second one scoring the first Wolf Pack run just ahead of the throw by Tech centerfielder Emma Barnes.

The scored remained 1-0 until the top of the fifth inning when Tech third baseman Summer Young committed the only error of the night to allow Nevada?s leadoff batter to reach. After an out, a single and a stolen base put runners on second and third with one out, a fly ball to left field scored an unearned run just ahead of the throw home.

After being retired in order in the first three innings, Tech had one runner reach base in each of the final four innings but couldn?t muster enough offense to plate a run.

The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 3 p.m. at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
