Tech Soccer Falls to OBU, 1-0 RUSTON, La.?Despite outshooting their opponent for the second straight game, the Lady Techsters could not make it 2-for-2 in the pre-season as they fell to visiting Ouachita Baptist, 1-0, on Monday night at Joe Aillet Stadium. Louisiana Tech registered 32 shots to OBU?s 8, including 9 shots on goal, but was unable to get one past the Lady Tigers? Taylor Culberson.
OBU scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute as Sarah Reed?s corner kick found a swarm of Lady Tigers in front of the net. Alicia Marshall got a foot on the ball, and it found the back of the net to give the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead and the victory.
?We had lots of chances, but that?s soccer,? head coach
Kevin Sherry said. ?The lesson we learn from this, when there?s a failure to clear the ball from either penalty area, the team that reaches the ball quicker is the team that has success. And we didn?t do that tonight.?
Tech had several opportunities, the best of which came in the 26th minute when
Lindsey Gamill?s shot hit the left post but ricocheted straight to
Denise Wilson. But her attempt was just off the mark as well.
The Lady Techsters will have their final tune-up of the season on Saturday as they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to face Southern Miss. Kick-off is set for 2 p.m.
