DENVER - Louisiana Tech has been picked to finished fourth and sixth overall in the 2008-09 Preseason Western Athletic Conference Media and Coaches' Polls, respectively, with junior guard Kyle Gibson picked first team All-WAC in both poll.

"I am extremely happy for Kyle," Tech head coach Kerry Rupp said. "This is a testament to the hard work he has put in for our program since he's been here. Our ranking is about where I'd expected us to be picked after last year's results. This year, we are laying the foundation for constant improvement both on and off the court for our players, and we expect nothing but the best effort from our team from playing to the classroom."

In the media poll, Nevada received 255 points and 20 first-place votes. Utah State was picked second with 220 points and four first place votes. New Mexico State garnered 201 points and two first place votes for third place followed by Tech with 149 points. Boise State was fifth with three first place votes and 142 points followed by San Jose State with a first place vote and 132 points. Fresno State was seventh with 114 points, followed by Hawai`i (103) and Idaho (34).
