LIHUE, Kauai -- Matthew Harvey shot a one-under-par 70 to lead Louisiana Tech in the first round of the Kauai Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii at Puakea Golf Course Monday.

The Bulldogs sit in a two-way tie for seventh place after 18 holes in the 14-team event which runs through Wednesday.

Head coach Jean Hall's team shot a five-over-par 289 team total to tie with UNC-Wilmington and leads two other Western Athletic Conference schools after the first day of the event.

San Jose State leads the team standings with a one-under-par 283 followed by Drake (284), Gonzaga (285), James Madison (286), San Diego (286), San Francisco (288), Tech (289), UNC Wilmington (289), Loyola Marymount (291), UC Riverside (291), Utah (294), Hawaii (295), Boise State (296) and Osaka Gakuin (311).

Harvey sits in a tie for 11th place overall, four strokes off the leader who is San Jose State's Mark Hubbard (first round 66).

Freshman Cody Santone shot a one-over-par 72 and is tied for 21st place followed by teammates Clinton Shepard (73, T32nd), Amrith de Soysa (74, T38th), Ryan Robertson (75, T46th), and Corey Bartlett (78, T61st).
