RUSTON--The Louisiana Tech women's soccer team will make one family's Christmas a little more enjoyable this holiday season by purchasing toys and clothes for two area children.
"This is a wonderful gesture by the girls," Tech head coach Kevin Sherry said. "We truly have a caring group of young ladies right now in our program."
As a team, the Lady Techsters chose a family from the Temple Baptist Church's holiday wish tree in Ruston. They used their own money to purchase several toys and clothes for a brother and sister who are living with their grandmother. The presents will be delivered to the family's doorstep on Christmas Eve.
"We really stress community involvement with our girls," Sherry said. "We want them to take the important virtues they learn from interacting with each other as teammates and use them later in life, as they enter the work environment and when they have their own family."
