Brignac, who led the USA Softball Junior National team to the gold medal at the 2007 World Championship, was overpowering in her collegiate debut, striking out 10 batters and walking none in an impressive five innings of work.

Tech junior Krissi Oliver wasn't as impressive in her season debut, picking up the loss while allowing eight earned runs on seven hits and three walks in 2.1 innings of work.

Freshman Wanda Malone came on in relief of Oliver in the bottom of the third inning, and allowed five earned runs on five hits and three walks in 1.2 innings of action.
