Cobb Named LSWA Hitter of the Week

March 11, 2008

BATON ROUGE - Louisiana Tech outfielder Adam Cobb was named the state's Hitter of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. He joined New Orleans pitcher Bryan Cryer as the LSWA honorees this week.

Cobb, a senior from Ashdown, Ark., was named Hitter of the Week as he batted .579 (11-for-19) in five games with two doubles, one triple, one homer, two RBI and six runs.

The WAC leader in home runs with five, went 6-for-10 against Central Arkansas last weekend, including a 3-for-3 performance in Sunday's first game and a 2-for-4 effort in Game 2.

Cryer, a senior right-hander from Denham Springs, La., was 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA to lead UNO to wins over No. 22 Tulane and Middle Tennessee. Opponents hit .091 against him, and he struck out 17 in 14 innings of work.

Tech hits the field Tuesday at 6 p.m. as rival Louisiana-Lafayette comes to Ruston for a mid-week game. The Bulldogs conclude their seven-game homestand with a three-game series against Tennessee-Martin this weekend.
