Techsters Look to Continue Win Streak

March 5, 2008

HONOLULU - Louisiana Tech looks to build on a season-best three-game winning streak when the Lady Techsters face Hawaii Thursday night at 11 p.m. CST at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Tech (14-13, 8-6 WAC) has already defeated Hawaii (11-16, 5-9) 90-53 in Ruston back in January, but head coach Chris Long knows his team is in for a fight against the Rainbow Wahine.

"Hawaii is always a tough team to play on the island," Long said. "They have really good size inside and are playing their match-up zone defense as well as they've played it all year. We played extremely well in the win over them in Ruston and we will have to do it again if we expect to win this time."

Tech has won three straight games since falling 65-55 at New Mexico State on Feb. 14 as the Lady Techsters continue to position themselves for the WAC Tournament March 11-15.

The Lady Techsters are currently in fifth place, only ½ game behind a Nevada team that Tech beat 70-64 in Ruston last Saturday.

Jo Sneed continues her MVP type season, leading Louisiana Tech in scoring at 15.9 points, rebounding at 10.3 rebounds and in shooting at a 55 percent clip.

Hawaii has won two of its last three as the Rainbow Wahine fell 66-55 at Boise State Saturday.

Senior Tanya Smith leads Hawaii averaging 12.4 points and 11.9 rebounds a game.

Tech leads the all-time series against Hawaii 18-2 and has only lost once in 14 tries on the island.
