RUSTON - Louisiana Tech made quick work of Alcorn State Wednesday defeating the Lady Braves 9-1 and 10-0 in two five inning games at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
In game one of the day, Tech (20-19) banged out 11 hits and scored in every inning to down the Lady Braves (16-22) 9-1.
Regan Clark, Kylie Bassett and Emma Barnes each registered two hits while Clark and Danielle Sheridan each registered two RBI.
Junior Krissi Oliver (8-9) picked up the win allowing no runs and no hits in 2.0 innings of work.
Freshman Wanda Malone came on in relief and allowed one unearned run on one hit while striking out two in 2.0 innings of action. Freshman Jordan Simmons pitched a perfect fifth inning.
Tech scored in all five innings, plating three runs in the first, one in the second and third and two in the fourth and the fifth.
In the nightcap, Tech once again scored in every inning and capitalized on the wildness of Alcorn State starting pitcher Melinda Ellis.
The Lady Techsters plated 10 runs on only four hits but took advantage of five walks, five hit batters, five wild pitches and three Lady Braves' errors.
Tech scored two in the first, three in the second, two in the third and three more in the fourth to easily put Alcorn State away.
Sheridan, Amberly Waits, Claire Gibson and Elizabeth Franklin each registered a hit while Barnes had two RBI and three stolen bases.
Three Tech pitchers combined for the shutout. Sophomore Mandi Bertsch (7-6) picked up the win, pitching a perfect 2.0 innings while striking out two.
Meghan Krieg came on in relief and allowed one hit and one walk in 2.0 innings of action while striking out five. Simmons pitched a perfect fifth inning.
Tech returns to action Friday with a single game against New Mexico State starting at 7 p.m. CST.
