Box Score

RENO - Louisiana Tech scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning but it wasn't enough as the Lady Techsters fell 8-7 to 18th ranked Nevada in the first game of a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday.

Tech (29-24, 7-8 WAC) entered the frame trailing 8-2 but mounted an impressive two-out rally.

Trailing by six with two outs, Regan Clark doubled home two runs to cut the deficit to 8-4. Kylie Bassett followed with a single, scoring Clark to make the score 8-5. Krissi Oliver capped the rally with a two-run home run cutting the advantage to 8-7.

However, Nevada hurler Katie Holverson struck out Jessica Kirby to end the game.

Tech jumped out to an early lead, scoring one run in both the first and second innings. Danielle Sheridan singled home Emma Barnes in the top of the first, and Kirby hit a solo home run in the second.

Nevada (33-14, 11-2 WAC) cut the advantage to 2-1 by plating a run in the bottom of the second and then took its first advantage in the fourth on a three-run home run by Kelsey Starr.

The Wolf Pack added a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Starr, who had five RBI in the contest.

With Tech trailing 5-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Oliver was relieved by freshman Wanda Malone who allowed three runs - one earned - on three hits. The runs proved to be the difference in the game.

Oliver (14-12) picked up the loss, allowing five runs on 11 hits and no walks while striking out two.

Oliver and Bassett each registered three hits and drove home two runs while Clark also added two RBI on one hit.

Holverson (17-5) picked up the win, allowing seven runs - two earned - on 11 hits while striking out eight.
