Louisiana Tech Shutout 1-0 at Fresno State

Oct. 11, 2009

Final Stats

FRESNO, Calif. - Louisiana Tech was held scoreless for the third time in their last four games on Sunday in a 1-0 loss at Fresno State.

The Lady Techsters fell to 11-4-1 overall (0-4, WAC) while the Bulldogs improved to 4-9-0 overall (2-1, WAC).

One game after taking just seven shots, Tech took a season-low six shots, but still held Fresno State to just eight. The only shot to go in the goal was by the Bulldogs' Laura Dodd in the 60th minute on a miss-kick that sailed past Tech goalkeeper Aly Dicker.

"We give away a goal because of a goalkeeper error every game," Tech head coach Kevin Sherry said. "Our offense is just not firing. They are just not on their game at this point of the season. If you put those two things together, our offense not working and giving away a goal, it's almost impossible to turn these games around no matter how much work our defense is doing."

Tech's best chance of scoring came in the final five minutes. Senior Kat McCullough took a shot that was wide in the 86th minute. Sophomore Olivia Lukasewich had a shot blocked in the 87th minute. A minute later, sophomore Scotti Culton had a shot that was saved by the Fresno State goalkeeper. Freshman Heather Fitzgerald had the only other shot on goal for Tech.

Dicker shared time in goal with sophomore Cat Buchanan who entered the game and recorded two saves.

"Amy Quintana, Chelsea White, Mal Feece and Kacee Voldness were our back bone," Sherry said. "Chelsea hadn't been eating for two days because of the flu and she played the whole game. Ultimately the responsibility lies with me. The players are giving 100 percent."

Louisiana Tech will try to break a four-game losing streak and look to get their offense going at home against Hawaii on Friday at 4 p.m. CT at the Lady Techster Soccer Field.
