RUSTON--The Lady Techster tennis team finished up their fall season over the weekend with a strong showing in the Tyler Junior College Apache Invitational.

The Techsters had four players advance to the semi-final matches of their flights as well as two doubles teams winning the consolation bracket of their flights.

"What I can tell you about this tournament is we played well," head coach Quintin Yray said. "The competition was the toughest we have faced this year but we still had four players advance to the second day getting to the semifinals of their flights."

Tech freshmen Cecile Vichery, Alena Erofeyeva and Vivian ten Dolle all advanced all the way to the semi-final round of their flights in the tournament. Tech's ten Dolle did so in dramatic fashion after winning the first set of the quarterfinal round 7-5, ten Dolle found herself down 5-2 in the second set before storming back to win the set 7-5 and the match. Sophomore Laura Rodriguez advanced to the semi-final round of her flight as well before falling to SFA's Alice Paucaut.

In doubles action Tech's Rodriquez and Erofeyeva reached the semi- finals in their flight while Maartje de Wit and ten Dolle advanced to win their consolation doubles flight. Rocio Juarez and Vichery also won their consolation doubles flight in the tournament.

"I think we are on track for a very good season," Yray said. "Now we will work hard to get ready for our spring season beginning in January."

The Techsters will now take a break from matches until returning to the courts on January 23 when the team will travel to Dallas, Texas for a tournament at SMU.
