RUSTON, La. - As the Louisiana Tech basketball season gets underway, the athletic department has released reminders and new policies for fans to follow at home games.
On days in which there are doubleheaders, following the conclusion of the women's game, all fans must move to the concourse of the Thomas Assembly Center. If they have a women's basketball season ticket, but are without a men's basketball season ticket, they can watch the men's game for free in the upper general admission section. Likewise, if they have a men's season ticket, but not a women's, they can watch the women's game from the upper general admission section for free.
The doors will open one hour prior to game time for all home games with the exception of the Lady Techster game against LSU on Dec. 1 for the "Pack the House" Challenge. For that game, doors will open 90 minutes before tip-off.
The slogan for this year's game is "Cage the Tigers" while the theme for the night is Circus Circus. Free tailgating outside the Thomas Assembly Center will begin at 5:30 p.m. as area business, student organizations and families are encouraged to set up and enjoy the pregame food festivities.
The athletic department is encouraging all tailgaters to offer free food to fans. They can contact Assistant AD for Marketing Leah Beasley (lbeasley@latechsports.com/318-245-8664) to reserve a tailgating spot.
Tailgating will include free food and numerous giveaways while the Bindlestiff Family Circus will also perform (at tailgating and halftime) numerous acts, including fire-eating, sword-swallowing, acrobatics, juggling, whip cracking and more. Clowns will also be on hand along with a special exhibit of animals from the Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo. Barak Shriners' circus clowns and representatives will also be in attendance and their will many in-game promotions as well.
LA Tech is also offering a special 5 for $25 ticket promotion for any fans that purchase their tickets at www.ticketmaster.com.
The Bulldogs first home game of the season is on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against UALR. The Lady Techsters next home contest is the Dec. 1 game against LSU at 7 p.m.
