Riding a four-game winning streak, Louisiana Tech will host Northwestern State on Saturday at 7 p.m.

LA Tech (6-1) welcomes in-state foe Northwestern State (3-2) to the Thomas Assembly Center. The Bulldogs have fared well against teams from Louisiana as they are 2-0 this season with wins over Nicholls State and ULM. Head coach Kerry Rupp is 9-3 all-time against in-state teams.

The ninth win came on Wednesday in a 76-73 victory at ULM. Kyle Gibson and ULM's Tony Hooper each put on an impressive shooting display with Gibson getting the last laugh. He scored 26 points on five three-pointers, but his final three was the biggest as he was found open in the corner for the game-winner at the buzzer.

Gibson is second in the Western Athletic Conference in scoring with a 19.9 average and has had three 20-point games this season. Olu Ashaolu (12.7), Jamel Guyton (11.7) and Magnum Rolle (10.9) are also averaging double-figures in points.

Northwestern State enters the game after winning at Centenary 83-80. They have three players averaging at least 11 points led by Devon Baker's 13.2 average. The Demons are led by Mike McConathy who is 159-157 in his 11th season at NSU. McConathy was an Honorable Mention AP All-American for Louisiana Tech during the 1975-76 season and is the program's second leading scorer for the Bulldogs.

This is the first meeting for the two schools since 1998. Tech leads the all-time series 75-62 and has won the last 12 games against the Demons.

The contest can be heard live throughout the LA Tech Sports Network, including KXKZ 107.5 FM (Ruston) and KBYO 92.7 FM (Monroe/Farmerville).

LA Tech fans can also access the game via the Internet by subscribing to LA Tech All-Access (log onto www.latechsports.com) as the audio and video will be streamed live. Livestats are also available on the website.

Fans that come to see the Bulldog football team play in their final game of the season on Saturday at 1 p.m. can receive a ticket to the basketball game for $5. Just show a football ticket stub at the basketball ticket office to receive a discounted ticket.
