HONOLULU -- Louisiana Tech looks for its fourth straight win Sunday when the Lady Techsters face Hawaii at 9 p.m. CST at the Stan Sheriff Center in an important Western Athletic Conference contest.
Tech (15-11, 8-4 WAC) is currently in a three-way tie for second place in the WAC standings tied with Nevada and Idaho and trailing league-leader Fresno State by only one game.
However, more movement could take place during Sunday's action as Nevada is at Boise State while Idaho hosts Utah State.
The Lady Techsters are coming off an 87-69 win over San Jose State in which the Lady Techsters shot over 50 percent for the second straight game, including a blistering 68 percent (21-31) over the final 20 minutes of play.
Adrienne Johnson continued her bid for a possible WAC Player of the Year award by scoring 22 points while teammate Shanavia Dowdell added 15 points and nine rebounds. Brietta Thomas scored 12 points while Whitney Jones added 11 points.
Hawaii (6-19, 3-9) is coming off a 54-51 win over New Mexico State late Friday night as the Rainbow Wahine are trying to win their way out of the play-in game on the first day of the WAC Tournament March 10-14.
In the first meeting of the year between the two teams, Tech defeated Hawaii 68-56 nine days ago in Ruston in a game that saw Dowdell and Johnson combine for 37 points and 16 rebounds.
Tech leads the all-time series against Hawaii 19-3, although the Rainbow Wahine defeated the Lady Techsters 84-77 on the island last year.
