FRESNO -- Danielle Sheridan and Kylie Bassett each homered and Meghan Krieg used a workman-like effort to lead Louisiana Tech to a 4-0 win over 24th ranked Nevada Thursday at the 2009 Western Athletic Conference Tournament at Bulldog Diamond.

With the win, Tech (34-21) advances to Friday's match-up with top-seed and host Fresno State, a 4-0 winner over Boise State in the first game on Thursday. The contest is scheduled for 4 p.m. CST and can be heard on KPCH 99.3 FM, www.thepeach993.com and www.wac.tv.

For the second consecutive day, Tech broke a scoreless tie in the third inning, this time plating four runs on five hits off Nevada starter and WAC Pitcher of the Year Katie Holverson.

Sophomore Heather Doiron led the frame off with an infield single to second base and then one out later, Sheridan drove the first pitch she saw from Holverson deep over the left centerfield fence for a 2-0 Tech lead.

Amberly Waits then singled to right field setting the stage for Bassett's two-run shot over the centerfield fence, giving the Lady Techsters a 4-0 lead and chasing Holverson from the game.

"It was great to see us get production from another part of our lineup," Dawson said. "It's easy to key on Amberly, but its so important to have the people in front of her and behind her produce and that's what they did today. We knew no lead was big enough against Nevada because they are a powerful offense and can get right back into games."

For most of the game, Krieg (20-5) was in complete control until the top of the fifth inning when Nevada mounted its biggest threat of the game.

Jessica Haight led the inning off with a single and one out later Noelle Micka singled to put runners on first and second. After Kim Silagyi struck out, Krieg walked Brittany Puzey to load the bases for the Wolf Pack clean up hitter Britton Murdock.

However, Krieg struck Murdock out looking to end the threat and maintain the four run lead.

Krieg retired the final six batters she faced to earn the victory. The Sonora, Texas native allowed six hits and two walks while striking out four in the win.

"Nevada is an aggressive offensive team," Dawson said. "They are a free swinging group. Meghan threw a good combination of pitches in the strike zone and out of the strike zone and got them to chase some. It really allowed her to be successful."

Offensively, Sheridan and Claire Gibson each registered two hits while Waits, Bassett, Oliver and Dorion each recorded one hit.

Holverson (24-9) picked up the loss, allowing four earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three in 2.1 innings of work.

Micka and Silagyi each led Nevada with two hits.
