RUSTON -- Boys and girls from kindergarten through fourth grade took part in this year's Kerry Rupp Junior Bulldog Basketball Camp held Monday-Wednesday at the Thomas Assembly Center.
"First off, I would like to thank all of the families and friends that gave us the opportunity to teach basketball to their kids," head coach Kerry Rupp said. "Hopefully, we saw several future Bulldogs and Lady Techsters this week. Each child came to camp all three days with a positive attitude and a great deal of energy and effort. Those are three qualities we look for in our student-athletes."
Campers learned the fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding and defense overseen by director of basketball operations Cody Fueger. Each child put their skills to the test by participating in several contests, skill challenges and games.
Camp counselor senior forward/center Magnum Rolle asked Rupp if he could volunteer for the camp because he wanted to give back some of his time to kids in the community.
"I really enjoyed meeting the kids, having a chance to interact with them and making their experience fun," Rolle said. "As a child, I remember having mentors, and I wanted them to look at me as a possible mentor. Just noticing a child having fun and seeing he/she smile means a lot to me."
