NEW ORLEANS - After arguably its most impressive performance of the season Wednesday night, Louisiana Tech will put its modest three-game winning streak on the line when they travel to the Big Easy to face a talented Tulane team Friday night at 7 p.m. at Fogelman Arena.
The Lady Techsters dominated for 40 minutes in an 84-54 win over Arkansas State but will have their hands full against a Green Wave team that is 7-1 on the year, including impressive victories over both Mississippi State and LSU. Tulane, whose RPI is 19th in the country right now, is an NCAA Tournament team from a year ago as the Green Wave won 26 games.
Through eight games this year, the Green Wave boast five players in double figures despite preseason first team all-CUSA honoree Danielle Nunn having yet to step on the court. Head coach Lisa Stockton's club is led by Olivia Grayson (14.9 ppg, 7.0 rpg), RoShaunda Barnes (13.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg), Tiffany Aidoo (12.1 ppg, 6.3 rpg), Brittany Lindsey (11.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg) and Whitney Bibbins (10.5 ppg, 6.6 rpg).
Tulane is a perfect 4-0 at home this year, including a 20-point win over Mississippi State.
Despite senior forward Adrienne Johnson (21.8 ppg, 9.1 rpg) continuing to pave the way, the Lady Techsters (5-3) are beginning to get more offensive contributions.
Senior guard Whitney Jones (12.3 ppg) is averaging 16.3 points per game over the last three games while junior forward Shantale Bramble-Donaldson has scored in double figures in three straight games.
Tech leads the all-time series against Tulane 7-0, including a 2-0 mark in New Orleans. The two programs haven't met since 2002-03.
This game marks the first of three straight against NCAA Tournament participants from a year ago as the Lady Techsters will play LSU Sunday and Georgia Dec. 29.
The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on ESPN 97.7 FM with the pregame show beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tech fans can also hear the game via the internet by purchasing a subscription to LA Tech All-Access through www.latechsports.com.
