CONWAY, Ark.--The Lady Techster Tennis team cruised to a 7-0 sweep of Central Arkansas late Saturday afternoon at the UCA Courts for their second win of the spring season.
"This was quite an accomplishment considering we lost to this team 4-3 last year," head coach Quintin Yray said. "We had four come from behind victories which really showed how tough our team is this year."
Freshman Vivian ten Dolle was impressive in the number one spot for the Techsters as she earned a win 6-1, 6-1 for Tech. Fellow freshman Cecile Vichery picked up a hard fought victory for Tech in the number two slot 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Sophomore Maartje de Wit won a close match in the number three position for Tech, winning 6-4, 7-5 vs. Central Arkansas' Kazumi Otani.
The Techsters picked up a win in the four slot when Rocio Juarez's opponent was forced to retire due to a wrist injury. Alena Erofeyeva and Laura Rodriguez each picked up wins for Tech as well to complete the singles sweep.
In doubles competition, Techster teams of ten Dolle/ de Wit, Vichery/ Juarez and Erofeyeva/Rodriguez all won their matches.
"All in all I was very impressed with the team's will to win," Yray said. "Nobody wanted to leave the court without a victory."
The Techsters will return to action tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT when they take on Arkansas Pine-Bluff.
