Coaches Poll
RUSTON - Fresh off an impressive 24-point win over Nevada Saturday night and in the midst of a six-game winning streak, Louisiana Tech picked up three points in this week's USA Today/ESPN Division I Coaches Poll released Tuesday.
The Lady Techsters (13-5, 5-0 WAC) are tied for 36th place among Division I teams in the poll as they prepare to head to the northwest this week for a two-game road trip against Idaho (Thursday) and Boise State (Saturday).
LA Tech has won six straight since its last loss on Dec. 30 against Marquette and has won 11 of its last 13, including impressive wins over 24th ranked Georgia by 15 and Tulane by six.
Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon's team has also moved up considerably in the most recent RPI as the Lady Techsters are 32nd in today's collegerpi.com and 34th in this week's NCAA RPI released Monday.
LA Tech's strength of schedule is 38th overall through 18 games after being ranked 24th toughest in the country through the 13 non-conference games.
Only two non-BCS programs are ranked in this week's poll as Xavier is seventh in the country with 583 points while Wisconsin-Green Bay is 16th with 313 points. LA Tech is one of seven non-BCS teams currently listed in the Others Receiving Votes category.
Tech continues to be led by All-American candidate Adrienne Johnson, who ranks ninth in the country in scoring averaging 22.0 points per game.
