Techsters Look to Snap Skid at Boise State

Jan. 28, 2011

BOISE, Idaho - Louisiana Tech's senior class has accomplished a lot of the course of its four years donning a Lady Techster jersey, but one thing the five-some hasn't done is beat Boise State at Taco Bell Arena.

On Saturday at 8 p.m. CT, the group will get one last chance to register a victory at the only facility in the Western Athletic Conference where they haven't already won as LA Tech (14-5, 6-0 WAC) visits Boise State (11-9, 2-4 WAC).

Adrienne Johnson, Tarkeisha Wysinger-Mackey, Whitney Jones, Brietta Thomas and Martina Holloway will try to snap a three-game losing streak at Taco Bell Arena as LA Tech hasn't won in Boise since the 2006-07 season.

Tech is coming off a 63-56 win over Idaho Thursday night in Moscow in a game that saw the Lady Techsters use an 18-4 run midway through the second half to register their seventh straight victory of the year.

Adrienne Johnson scored 24 points in the win, the 11th time in 19 games that the All-American candidate has scored 20 or more points.

The current seven-game winning is the longest for the Lady Techsters since an eight-game winning streak that closed the 2008-09 season.

Tech will also try to maintain its one-game lead over second-place Fresno State in the current Western Athletic Conference standings as the Bulldogs travel to Reno to face Nevada on Saturday. Tech and Fresno State will play in Ruston Feb. 5 in a rematch of the triple overtime victory by the Lady Techsters on Jan. 13.

Boise State will look to rebound after an 87-71 home loss Thursday night to New Mexico State in a game that saw the Aggies hit an eye-popping 15-of-24 three-pointers.

The Broncos are led by the inside-outside combination of junior guard Kati Isham and sophomore forward Lauren Lenhardt. Isham is averaging 14.7 points per game and is one of the league's top three-point shooters, having connected on 50-of-124 for the year.

Lenhardt is a formidable post player that is averaging 13.7 points per game, and who has eclipsed the 30-point plateau in two of her last three outings.

Tech leads the all-time series against Boise State 15-7, although the Broncos have won five of the last six meetings.

The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on ESPN 97.7 FM with the pregame show beginning at 7:30 p.m.
