Techsters Earn AP Top 25 Votes

Jan. 31, 2011

RUSTON - For the first time this season, Louisiana Tech picked up some votes in the Associated Top 25 poll as the Lady Techsters received three points in this week's rankings.

Tech, winners of eight straight games heading into this weekend's showdown with Fresno State Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Thomas Assembly Center, was picked in two of the 40 voters polls, including Dan Fleser of the Knoxville News Sentinel and Paul Zeise of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Fleser tabbed the Lady Techsters 24th in his poll while Zeise picked them 25th.

Tech earned three points in this week's AP Poll, tying them for 35th with Kansas State.

The Lady Techsters are also ranked 28th in the latest RPI released by the NCAA on Monday, moving up six spots from last week's position of 34th.

Tech could make a move up both the Top 25 poll and the RPI standings with a victory over Fresno State this weekend as the Bulldogs are ranked 67th in the current RPI.

The Lady Techsters defeated the Bulldogs 94-92 in triple overtime on Jan. 13 in Fresno and hold a slim one-game lead over FSU in the WAC standings.

Tickets for this weekend's game against Fresno State can be purchased by calling the Tech Ticket Office at 318-257-3631 or emailing techtickets@latech.edu. All tickets for Saturday night's showdown with the Bulldogs are only $5.
