Louisiana Tech

Head Coach Sonny Dykes

On performance:

"It was a disappointing performance. I'm embarrassed of how our team played. I'm not pleased with the product we put on the field. We've got to get better, be able to play better and react better, and handle situations that occur in the game better than we did tonight."

"We did a pretty good job at times making plays. When we got the ball into a flow offensively in the red zone we were able to run the football. When we got the ball in a flow we executed decently, but we had way too many 3 and outs. We had a lot of opportunities to make some good plays and just didn't do it."

On the 22 minute delay:

"I still don't have an explanation. I thought it was bad for everybody, bad for football…but that had nothing to do with how we played and our performance. That was solely our responsibility and has nothing to do with any officials."

On the 3rd quarter with 1:40 left:

"We lost our composure, went into panic mode, and they got 14 quick extra points. Like anything else, if we handle that situation better we have a chance to win it."

On 20,000 plus attendance:

"The support was outstanding and I want to thank everyone personally. I'm sorry we played like we did. That's not what this team is about. I was disappointed we had such a great crowd and didn't put a better product on the field."

On Hawaii's players:

"They did a good job protecting upfront. That is where it all starts. They protected well. We had a hard time getting pressure on them all night."

"Hawaii did a great job, and they were a much more mature team than we were in a lot of different ways and it was obvious in how we played and in the score. He's [Moniz] the best we've played. He and (Case) Keenum are two of the best in college football. Pollard made a ton of competitive plays. He battled, he competed - that's what good football players do and he's obviously a good football player."

Freshman Nick Isham, Quarterback

On effects of 22 minute official review:

"I think it got us into a little bit of a relaxed mode and also tightened up our muscles some that we had to stretch out again."

On Interception returned for a touchdown:

"I saw a hole in the defense and changed the route. The defender was playing man and instead of staying on his guy he jumped the out route I threw."

On Hawaii's defensive pressure:

"The way we block it shouldn't affect us. They came out playing fast and hard. We just didn't maintain the intensity that we had on our first drive as a team."

Senior Terry Carter, Cornerback

On Hawaii's Royce Pollard:

"Just a great player and he wanted it more than us in the secondary."

On Hawaii's routes:

"They ran a couple of different routes than we thought they would but I thought we had a great game plan. We just didn't execute."

On comparing Hawaii's passing attack to other teams:

"I compare them to Houston and the Hawaii team we played last year. They are up there at the top."

On disappointing the fans tonight:

"It is pretty embarrassing and very disappointing. We have a bunch of great fans and I am apologizing for the way we competed on the field. I promise that will never happen again."

Hawaii Head Coach Greg McMackin

On the win:

"It's tough to win here. They had a great crowd, great participation. We played a great football team."

On his team's effort:

"I really appreciate the effort the team and coaches put out to win this ballgame. We scored in all 3 phases of the game - defense, special teams, offense. They played really hard against a good football team. I'm really pleased with them. It's good going into a little bit of a bye…we're going to enjoy this one for a couple of hours."

On being 1-0 in WAC

"This was a must-win game. This is a team I've been concerned about since the schedule game out because as you can see they've played big time schools really close, they're at home…they've got talented players as you can see. They're just a good football team."
