RUSTON, La. - There's a new addition to the Louisiana Tech football program making a trip to the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl and, while it is not connected to a wedding, it is something new and something blue. "LA Tech One" arrived in Ruston late Wednesday evening, a new tractor-trailer for the team's equipment staff.
"LA Tech One" is the name for the 51-foot trailer with an impressive design by Lange Creative that will haul the team's equipment as well as instruments and uniforms for the Band of Pride to the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego. The trailer was donated by Faulk Collier of Monroe.
With help from Tango Transport, "LA Tech One" will depart Ruston Thursday and will meet the team in San Diego in time for the Bulldogs' first practice on Saturday. Louisiana Tech will have the eyes of the nation upon it next Wednesday when the Bulldogs face No. 15 TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl.
"We are incredibly excited to have a professional truck with a great design showcasing Louisiana Tech," head equipment manager Clay Lewis said. "It took a lot of work by the athletic department, LA Tech Sports Properties and several others to make this happen but it is just another great addition to our historic championship program."
Louisiana Tech is currently preparing to face No. 15 TCU in the 2011 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 21 in San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium.
The 2011 Poinsettia Bowl will be televised on ESPN and will be the only bowl game taking place on Dec. 21. Joe Tessitore (play-by-play) will call the action along with Lou Holtz (analyst), Mark May (analyst) and Samantha Steele (sidelines). In addition, ESPN Radio (97.7 FM in Ruston) will carry the game nationally with Bill Rosinksi (play-by-play) calling the action along with David Norrie (analyst) and Joe Schad (analyst). The LA Tech Sports Network (107.5 FM in Ruston), as always, will broadcast the Tech game with Dave Nitz (play-by-play), Teddy Allen (analyst) and Max Causey (sidelines) calling the action.
