Adrienne Johnson for All-American

KNOE Feature on Adrienne Johnson

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State will meet for the second time in five days when the Lady Techsters face the Aggies Saturday night at 8 p.m. CT at the Pan American Center.

LA Tech (17-5, 9-0 WAC) defeated New Mexico State 85-63 Monday night in Ruston, upping the Lady Techsters winning streak to 10 games.

Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon and Co. look to maintain their two-game lead in the Western Athletic Conference race over Fresno State, a team that the Lady Techsters have already defeated twice this season.

All-American candidate Adrienne Johnson continues her assault on the Tech record books after passing Nora Lewis into 10th place on the all-time scoring list in her last outing against the Aggies. Johnson is now 56 points away from passing Tamicha Jackson (1,822) who currently sits in ninth place.

Johnson enters the game ranked 10th nationally, averaging 22.0 points per game and has recorded 13 games of 20 or more points this season.

Johnson hasn't been the only Techster scorching the nets recently as Tech has scored 85 points or more in five of its last seven games, including eclipsing the 90-point plateau on four occasions.

In the last three games, Tech has received consistent offensive production from its starting three guards as Jasmine Bendolph (7.6 ppg), Whitney Jones (11.1 ppg) and Tarkeisha Wysinger-Mackey (10.1 ppg) have all scored double figures in each of the three games.

New Mexico State (10-12, 4-4 WAC) enters the game trying to snap a two-game losing skid as the Aggies fell to Idaho in the game prior to Monday's setback against the Lady Techsters.

The Aggies are paced by four players averaging in double figures, including Jasmine Lowe (13.2 ppg), Madison Spence (14.2 ppg), Danisha Corbett (10.5 ppg) and Tabytha Wampler (12.6 ppg).

Tech leads the all-time series against New Mexico State 13-2, including six straight wins in the series. However, both of the Aggies victories in the series have come in Las Cruces - the last coming during the 2007-08 season.

The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on ESPN 97.7 FM with the pregame show beginning at 7:30 p.m.
