RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech dropped only three sets on Saturday in its 6-1 win over Central Arkansas at the Louisiana Tech Tennis Complex.
The win improved the Lady Techsters to 2-1 on the season while the Sugar Bears fell to 0-5.
Junior Elne Barnard kept her singles record unblemished as she defeated Simona Horsikyan 7-5, 6-3 and improved to 3-0 at No. 1 singles.
In No. 2 singles, freshman Melanie Urvoy (2-1) defeated Lisa Mainz 6-2, 6-1 and in No. 3 singles, junior Anna Zureck (2-1) beat Sasha Ruocco 6-2, 6-4.
Junior Maarje de Witt (2-1) defeated Kazumi Otani 7-5, 6-2 in No. 4 singles and sophomore Alena Erofeyeva (2-1) beat Kati Andersen 6-3, 6-0 to win in No. 5 singles.
The No. 1 doubles duo of Barnard and Zureck defeated Mainz and Hartman 8-1. In No. 2 doubles, Urvoy and Erofeyeva defeated Ruocco and Otani 8-6.
The Lady Techsters play their third match in three days on Sunday at Stephen F. Austin. Play begins at 10 a.m. from Nacogdoches, Texas.
