Techsters Think Pink for Thursday Night Game

Feb. 16, 2011

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech Lady Techster fans have seen an assortment of different styles and colors of Under Armour jerseys this year from the new black road unis to the throw-back sleeved home uniforms.

This Thursday and Saturday, Lady Techster fans will see another new version as the LA Tech players will sport pink uniforms as the program joins women's basketball programs nationwide in support of the WBCA's Pink Zone game - an effort to raise the awareness of breast cancer.

LA Tech will host Hawaii Thursday at 7 p.m. and San Jose State Saturday at 6 p.m. - the latter game being the second game of a doubleheader with the Bulldogs who host Georgia State at 3 p.m.

Techster fans are urged to wear pink to Thursday's game as any fan wearing pink can purchase a discounted ticket for only $5.

Tech fans can cheer on the Lady Techsters, who will be going for the 400th win all-time at the Thomas Assembly Center Thursday.

Fans can also make a donation to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation and by doing so will be entered to win cash prizes as well as a "Sleeping for the Cure" pillow case autographed by the Lady Techsters.

Other promotions for Thursday's game include the Raising Cane's Challenge, the WOW Wing-eating contest and the GNC Jump Contest.

On Saturday, both the Bulldog and the Lady Techster games will be utilized for helping the March of Dimes as any fan donating to the cause will be entered to win cash prizes (which will be awarded during the second game).

In between the two games, the Dimes Diaper Derby will take place as crawlers and toddlers will "compete" in a race down the court with the winners receiving prize packs from the March of Dimes and Tech Athletics. To enter your child in the contest, contact Leah Beasley at lbeasley@latech.edu.
