RUSTON - The Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters recorded a milestone season this year, including winning the program's 400th game at the Thomas Assembly Center and becoming only the second women's basketball program to ever win 1000 games.
Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon and Co. captured the Western Athletic Conference regular season title and participated in the program's 27th NCAA Tournament - the third most of all-time.
In celebration of all of these accomplishments and more, the annual Lady Techster Appreciation Banquet has been set for April 8 at 7 p.m. at the Tech Student Center.
Louisiana Tech Lady Techster fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for the event which will feature former Louisiana Tech letterwinner Janet Karvonen as the guest speaker.
Karvonen played for the Lady Techsters from 1983 through 1985 after transferring from Old Dominion University. She helped guide LA Tech to a 59-7 record and an appearance in the 1984 national title game against Southern Cal.
She was a two-time Adidas All-American and a Parade All-American at New York Mills (Minn.) High School where she was the state's all-time leading scorer.
Lady Techster fans will also get an opportunity to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of this year's team and honor all of the players that worked so hard to make the season a success, including LA Tech's four seniors in Martina Holloway, Adrienne Johnson, Brietta Thomas and Tarkeisha Wysinger-Mackey.
