LA Tech Moves Up in USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech moved up to 27th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll this week following a pair of victories that clinched the Western Athletic Conference regular season title.

The Lady Techsters earned 29 points in this week's poll, an increase over the 15 points it received in last week's version of the poll.

Tech, which enters this week's WAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed, trails only St. John's (32 points) in the Others Receiving Votes category. West Virginia is ranked 25th in the Top 25 Poll with a total of 64 points.

The Lady Techsters will open up WAC Tournament play Friday at 2 p.m. CT against either Nevada, Idaho or Boise State in a game that can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on ESPN 97.7 FM. The pregame show will start at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday's championship game is set for 3 p.m. CT and will be televised live on ESPNU.

LA Tech is currently sitting on program win No. 999 and with its next victory w will join Tennessee as the only two women's basketball programs to ever reach the 1,000-win plateau.
