RUSTON - Louisiana Tech Lady Techster fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for the annual end of the year banquet which is scheduled for April 8 at 7 p.m. at the Tech Student Center.

Former Louisiana Tech letterwinner Janet Karvonen will be the featured speaker at the event which is held each year to recognize and celebrate the success of the Lady Techster basketball team.

Tickets for the event can be purchased for $20 each or a sponsor table of eight can be purchased for $240. For ticket information, call Barb Swart at 318-255-7950.

Karvonen played for the Lady Techsters from 1983 through 1985 after transferring from Old Dominion University. She helped guide LA Tech to a 59-7 record and an appearance in the 1984 national title game against Southern Cal.

She was a two-time Adidas All-American and a Parade All-American at New York Mills (Minn.) High School where she was the state's all-time leading scorer.

Lady Techster fans will also get an opportunity to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of this year's team which has already captured the regular season Western Athletic Conference title and will begin defense of its WAC Tournament title on Friday.
