Final Stats
CONWAY, Ark. - Louisiana Tech (0-1) fell in their season opener to Central Arkansas (1-0) Saturday afternoon 4-3 at the UCA Tennis Courts.
Senior Elne Barnard and junior Alena Erofeyeva both swept their single matches at the No. 4 and No. 6 spots, respectively. Barnard defeated Allison Hartman 6-1, 6-1 while Erofeyeva downed Kazumi Otani 6-4, 7-6.
Also picking up a victory was junior Vivian ten Dolle at the No. 3 slot. She lost the first set to the Bears' Allison Murphy 6-4 but won the final two sets 6-3 and 6-4 for the Lady Techster's third team point.
Sophomore Melanie Urvoy was the only other Tech player to send her match to three sets but fell to Sasha Rucco (2-6, 6-4, 7-5).
UCA won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches over freshman Laura Fernandez and senior Anna Zureck, respectively.
The Bears picked up the doubles' point with victories in all three contests.
Tech will take on Grambling State twice on Tuesday in their home opener with the first contest starting at 2 p.m. and the second at 5 p.m.
