Final Stats
RUSTON, La. - In their home opener Tuesday afternoon, Louisiana Tech easily handled Grambling State 6-1 at the Lady Techster Tennis Complex.
Tech picked up the team point in the doubles competition after winning all three matches including two 8-0 decisions by the teams of senior Elne Barnard and Anna Zureck at the No. 2 spot and juniors Alena Erofeyeva and Vivian ten Dolle at No. 3.
At the No. 1 doubles position senior Maartje de Wit and freshman Laura Fernandez won 8-2.
In the singles matches, the Lady Techsters won three matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0 from ten Dolle, Urvoy and Zurek. Barnard and Erofeyeva moved to 2-0 in dual matches this year with wins at the No. 3 and 5 spots, respectively.
The No. 1 singles match saw Fernandez take on former Lady Techster Laura Rodriguez (2007-09) that Rodriguez won in two sets 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).
"Everything worked well today in both doubles and singles except the weather for the second match," said head coach Quinton Yray.
The second match against Grambling that was schedule for Tuesday had to be postponed because of rain and will be made up at a later date.
Louisiana Tech returns to action Sunday afternoon at home as they host McNeese State at 1 p.m.
