RUSTON, La. - For the second time in three weeks, Louisiana Tech freshman guard Raheem Appleby has been Louisiana Sports Writers Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week after his performance during the week of Jan. 30 - Feb. 5.
Appleby shares the honor this week with Louisiana-Lafayette's Josh Brown.
In the Bulldogs only game this past week at New Mexico State, Appleby scored 30 points to become the first Tech player to reach the mark since DeAndre Brown had 31 points at Northwestern State on Dec. 7, 2010. Appleby shot 10-of-19 from the field including 4-for-9 from three-point range and went 6-of-9 from the free throw line.
Appleby also played the entire 40 minutes of the game, becoming the first Bulldog to play every minute of a contest since Olu Ashaolu played all 40 minutes at Boise State in last year's Western Athletic Conference opener.
LA Tech returns to action at Utah State on Thursday night with tip off set for 8:05 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN Regional Television, ESPN Full Court and ESPN3.
