NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana Tech's tennis team extended their winning streak to three with a 7-0 victory over Xavier University of New Orleans at the Pepsi Tennis Center in New Orleans.
The Lady Techsters improve to 8-3 on the year while the Gold Nuggets fall to 2-14.
The team of junior Alena Erofeyeva and freshman Laura Fernandez started the match off with an 8-1 victory over Ashley McGill and Jordyn Goody. Seniors Elne Barnard and Anna Zurek clinched the doubles points for Tech as they defeated Amber Brown and Amanda Materre 8-3 at the No. 1 position.
Senior Maartje de Wit and junior Vivian ten Dolle won 8-2 to sweep the doubles competition for the Lady Techsters.
In singles matches, de Wit began with a 6-0, 6-0 win against McGill at the No. 6 spot. Ten Dolle followed up with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot over Materre.
Clinching the match for LA Tech was Erofeyeva (6-1, 6-1) against Goddy at the No. 4 position. The victory improves Erofeyeva to 11-0 in the spring.
Also picking up wins was Zurek (6-2, 6-1) at No. 5, Barnard (6-3, 6-1) at No.3 and Fernandez (6-3, 6-3) at the No. 1 spot to finish off the sweep of Xavier.
Louisiana Tech continues their road trip Sunday morning at 10 a.m. at Nicholls State.
