Final Stats
RUSTON, La. - Sunday afternoon the Louisiana Tech tennis team picked up a 6-1 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock at the Lady Techster Tennis Complex.
The Lady Techsters improve to 7-3 on the year while the Trojans drop to 9-8.
Senior Elne Barnard and Anna Zurek defeated Yana Kakovkina and Viktoriya Plyuta 8-2 in the No.1 position to improve to 6-4 as a team.
The pairing of senior Maartje de Wit and junior Vivian ten Dolle clinched the doubles points for Tech with an 8-4 victory against Michaela McShane and Veronique Luksich 8-4. The two Lady Techsters are now 6-1 in the spring, all in the No. 2 spot, as a team and have won five straight matches.
In the singles portion of the competition, junior Alena Erofeyeva played her second straight match at the No. 4 position and won 6-1, 6-0 over McShane. With the victory, Erofeyeva is now 10-0 this season in dual matches.
Barnard played her first match of the year at the No. 2 spot improved to 8-2 on the year as she defeated Luksich (6-2, 7-5). Ten Dolle got back into the win column with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Kokovkina.
De Wit's record is now 2-0 in the spring with a win (6-4, 6-0) against Alina Kolegova at the No. 6 spot.
The match of the day was at the No. 5 position as Zurek pulled out a three-set (6-1, 4-6, 6-4) over Nina Yates.
UALR's only point came in the No. 1 singles match as Plyuta defeated freshman Laura Fernandez (6-4, 7-5). The Trojans' team of Kolegova and Yates also won the No. 3 doubles 8-6 over Erofeyeva and Fernandez.
LA Tech hits the road for two road matches beginning at Xavier University in New Orleans on March 17.
