All-Academic Team
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech sophomore Erin Kipp was one of five Western Athletic Conference players voted to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District teams.
Kipp joins Hawai'i's Kelly Majam and Stephanie Ricketts, Brigham Young's Stacie Toney and Fresno State's Brooke Ortiz who were all named to the first team and now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
A biology major from Bullard, Texas, Kipp earned her spot on the All-District 6 Team. Kipp carries a 3.85 grade point average as a biology major as the pitcher/outfielder is batting .294 on the year with three home runs, 19 RBI and 15 runs scored. She has recorded seven multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games, including a career-high six RBI in a win over Utah State.
Kipp, who also has five doubles, one triple and two stolen bases on the year, is 5-7 in the circle for the Lady Techsters with a 5.56 earned run average.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a player must have completed at least one academic year, must be a starter or significant reserve, must have a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and must have completed at least one full academic year at her institution. Voting is done by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
