Louisiana Tech at Florida State March 19, 2013 Game Notes
• With the 71-66 win, Louisiana Tech now leads the all-time series over Florida State 1-0. The two teams had never met before on the court.
• LA Tech improved to 27-6 on the season, the second most wins in Bulldog history.
• Florida State fell to 18-16 on the season.
• It was only the second win ever against a current ACC opponent for LA Tech. The other was versus Virginia Tech during the 1958-59 season.
• LA Tech is now 8-6 all-time in NIT games. It is the first NIT win since 2001-02 when the Bulldogs advanced to the second round after defeating ULL in the opening round and Vanderbilt in the first round.
• The Bulldogs advance to the second round of the NIT for only the fourth time in school history.
• LA Tech starters were Alex Hamilton, Michale Kyser, Brandon Gibson, Raheem Appleby and Kenneth Smith. It was the first time this season with this starting lineup.
• Raheem Appleby scored 27 points. It was the eighth time this season he has scored at least 20 in a game and the 13th time of his career. The 27 points also tied for the third most by a Bulldog player in an NIT game.
• Raheem Appleby's 19 field goals attempts were the most attempts by a Bulldog in an NIT game.
• Raheem Appleby's 12 made field goals tied for the most by a Bulldog in an NIT game.
• Kenneth Smith had two steals on the night giving him 56 on the season, tied for fifth most in a single season.
• Five different Bulldog players registered at least two steals in the game (Alex Hamilton, Kenneth Smith, Raheem Appleby, Cordarius Johnson and Chris Anderson).
• Brandon Gibson had a game-high eight rebounds in just 19 minutes of action. It was the third time this season he led the team in rebounding in a game.
• The Bulldogs had 14 steals, the second most this season in a single game. It was also the most steals ever by a Bulldog team in an NIT game.
• The Bulldogs only scored 24 points in the first half on 25.8 percent shooting, but they scored 47 points in the second half on 65.5 percent shooting.
• The LA Tech bench outscored Florida State's bench 17 to 16. It marks the 24th straight game the Bulldog bench has outscored their opponents bench.
• LA Tech led 58-56 with five minutes to play in the game. The Bulldogs are now a perfect 25-0 on the season when leading with five minutes to play.
• After the five point win, the Bulldogs are now a perfect 6-0 when the scoring margin is five points or less.
