Pauline Tufi recorded a pair of RBI doubles and
Krysta Tutsch added a solo home run leading Louisiana Tech to a 13-6 win over Northwestern State in a predetermined 10-inning fall game Wednesday night at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
Tech pounded out 14 hits and capitalized on four NSU errors and eight walks to improve to 3-0 during the exhibition fall action. Tech has outscored its opponents 44-8 in those three wins.
Mark Montgomery and Co. scored two runs in the first and eventually built a 6-1 lead through six innings behind stellar pitching performances by Bianca Duran (3.0 IP, 2 hits) and Bailey Allen (3.0 IP, 2 hits, 1 ER). However, the Demons plated five runs in the next two frames to close the cap to 7-5.
Tech responded with a five-run eighth inning, highlighted by RBI doubles by Tufi and Katelynn Cook and an RBI single by Natalie Moran.
Tufi pitched the final 3.0 innings for LA Tech, allowing only two walks while striking out six to pick up the save.
Anna Cross (1-3, 2 runs, 2 SB), Tufi (2-5, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Kassie Harris (1-3, double), Cook (2-2, 3 runs, 1 RBI), Tustch (1-3, HR, RBI), Moran (1-1, 1 run, 1 RBI), Janine Godwin (3-5, 2 runs), Katie Smith (2-5, 1 RBI), Karlee Jensen (1-3, 1 RBI), Taylor Brintzenhoff (0-0, 1 run, 1 RBI), Lindsey Neyland (1 run) and Duran (1 RBI) led Tech offensively.
The Lady Techsters will travel to play at UL-Monroe on Friday at 7 p.m. Tech will then host Tyler Junior College (11 a.m.) and LSU-Eunice (3:30 p.m.) on Saturday and LSU-Alexandria in a doubleheader Sunday at noon.
