Dec. 19, 2014 RUSTON - Head coach Kevin Sherry officially wrapped up the 2014 fall season with the announcement of team awards for the Louisiana Tech soccer team.
The Lady Techsters experienced their most successful season yet in the program's short history, going 13-6-3 and winning their first ever postseason match in the Conference USA Tournament.
Junior college transfer Donya Salomon-Ali, the do-everything player, saw time as a defender, midfielder and striker throughout the season and earned Co-Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year.
Sharing the honor of Player of the Year was junior Laura LeFevour who also took home Defensive Player of the Year and was named the Four Pillars Team Award winner given to the person who best reflects the team culture of service, passion, respect and fearless.
It was no surprise that the Offensive Player of the Year was sophomore Kathryn Sloan after her amazing year as a striker, scoring a team-high 11 goals and six assists for 28 points.
Annie Armstrong and Brittany Beddow were named Co-Midfielders of the Year. The junior Beddow finished the season with seven goals and also tied a single-season school record with eight assists.
Armstrong, another junior college transfer, ended up starting 17 matches and is most notable for her lone goal of the season which was the equalizer in the C-USA Tournament quarterfinals.
Rounding out the team awards was the Most Improved Player honor which went to freshman defender Haley Laque.
