SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - During Saturday's 67-52 loss at Utah, Louisiana Tech head coach Tyler Summitt saw an all-too-familiar performance by his team as the Lady Techsters struggled to shoot the basketball for all 40 minutes.

Tech (4-5) hit only 24 percent (15-62) of its field goals while allowing Utah (5-5) to connect on 50 percent (28-56) of its attempts, and the Lady Techsters were outscored by 20 points in the paint in the loss to the Utes.

"I thought we only had three people show up and play to their capability," Summitt said. "That was it. It's an issue we have had all year. We lack a consistency across the board.

"At the end of the day, we have to knock down shots. And all too often, we allow our shooting early in the game affect us as individuals and ultimately as a team. We don't control what we can control. Credit to Utah. They played well and did what they needed to do. We didn't."

Senior Whitney Frazier, who ended the day with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, hit a long three-pointer to open the game for the Lady Techsters. However, Tech would misfire on its next 11 three-point field goal attempts and didn't fare much better inside the arc.

The first half saw four ties and seven lead changes as Tech was able to keep it close at the free throw line. Utah built a 20-14 advantage on a three-pointer by Taneaya Boclair at the 11:00 minute mark of the first half before the Lady Techsters answered with an 8-0 run. Brandi Wingate's 18-foot jumper put Tech on top 22-20 with eight minutes to play.

It would be the last lead of the game for the Lady Techsters. Utah responded with a 6-0 run and eventually took a 33-27 lead into the locker room, thanks to LA Tech hitting only 8-of-32 from the field in the opening 20 minutes of play.

The second half was more of the same offensively. While Tech continued to switch defenses to try to neutralize the inside combination of Taryn Wicijowski and Joeseta Fatuesi - who combined for 33 points and 17 rebounds - the Lady Techsters couldn't find an offensive rhythm.

While missing on 17 of its first 20 shots from the field out of the locker room, Tech saw Utah increase its lead to 16 at 55-39 with 6:52 to play in the game. The Lady Techsters made one final push, cutting the deficit to 57-49 on a pair of Frazier free throws with just over four minutes to play.

However, Tech came up empty on three straight offensive possessions when it had a chance to cut into the deficit even more and Utah pulled away for the win.

In addition to Frazier's 19 point-performance, Wingate added eight points and seven rebounds.

Tech committed a season-low seven turnovers in the game but was outrebounded 46-35 and outscored 32-12 on points in the paint.

The Lady Techsters will return to action Dec. 29 when they travel to Atlanta to face Harvard at the Georgia Tech Tournament.
