MIAMI ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" The state of Florida was not kind to Louisiana Tech as they suffered its second straight 2-0 loss, this one at the hands of FIU on Sunday afternoon at the FIU Soccer Stadium.

LA Tech (9-7, 2-4 C-USA) tried a different approach from Thursday playing more offensively with high pressure and passes, but FIU (8-7, 4-2 C-USA) was able to score early in the second half and get an insurance goal late.

"We approached the game with a positive outlook and to go for the win," head coach Kevin Sherry said. "We pressed high knowing that we would leave ourselves exposed at the back if FIU were able to escape our press. We wanted to force FIU into making mistakes and see if we could capitalize on those mistakes.

"We went for the win on the road against a very talented team which deserves some credit. The players gave everything and deserve a lot of credit."

Despite playing with smaller numbers in the back, the Lady Techster defense limited the high-powered Panthers to just four shots in the first half, bringing the game to halftime at nil-nil.

However, in the 50th minute a questionable foul was called along the left sideline on LA Tech, awarding a free kick for FIU. The set piece got the Panthers on the scoreboard as the cross went to the far post which was headed in by Talia McMurtrie.

The Techsters spent the next 30 minutes playing with four strikers looking for the equalizer, but the home team made it 2-0 in the 83rd minute when a through ball was received by Ellen Crist. The forward juked left on a 1-v-1 with Seto and scored into an open net.

Annabel Prior, Kathryn Sloan and Anne Armstrong each registered second half shot attempts in the match. Seto finished with seven saves.

LA Tech has three of the last four games of the season at home, starting on Friday, Oct. 16 versus UTEP. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.
