RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech forward Kathryn Sloan was named to the 2015 Academic All-District XI First Team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The academic all-district teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Sloan carries a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Communication Arts and Design and has twice earned the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal.

On the soccer pitch, the junior has helped LA Tech to an 11-7-1 overall record heading into the regular season finale on Friday night.

She currently leads the team in points (22) and goals (nine), ranking in the top five in C-USA in both categories. She is also tied for the most assists on the team with four.

The Kansas City, Missouri native has amassed 27 career goals which ties for the second most in program history, six shy of breaking the school record.

This marks the second straight year Sloan has earned Academic All-District VI honors.

As a First Team Academic All-District honoree, Sloan advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected at a later date.

This is the fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America program as CoSIDA recognizes four teams - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-District Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
