LA Tech season stats
ATLANTA, Ga. - Despite defeating two nationally-ranked singles players, Louisiana Tech fell 5-2 to No. 67 Georgia State on Saturday evening at Piedmont Park.
LA Tech (0-5) head coach Chad Camper changed us up his doubles lineup for the first time this season with hopes of notching the doubles point, but GSU (2-2) still outlasted the Lady Techsters with victories on all three courts.
The bright spot in doubles came from the duo of Marta Sramkova and Tarrannum Handa who were moved to the No. 1 spot and lost in a tiebreaker to a No. 40 ranked Panthers tandem.
In singles, Alexandra Starkova had the challenge of facing No. 102 ranked Niri Rasolomalala at No. 1 and Jazmin Britos had to face No. 69 ranked Linn Timmermann at No. 2.
Not only did both Techsters win, they did so in straight sets with Starkova winning 6-4, 6-4 and Britos winning 6-0, 6-3.
However, it was the depth of Georgia State that proved too much for LA Tech as the Panthers recorded victories on the other four courts.
The Techsters return to action on Friday, Feb. 6 when they make the short trip to Natchitoches to take on Northwestern State. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
