MIAMI, Florida - Kelia Shelton scored a game-high 20 points and Tiara Davenport recorded her first career double double to lead Louisiana Tech to a 79-56 win over FIU Saturday night in Miami in Conference USA action.

Davenport scored 13 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds while Whitney Frazier added 13 points and Chrisstasia Walter chipped in with 11 points. The win was the third straight road conference victory for the Lady Techsters (13-11, 8-5 C-USA), the longest streak since the 2011-12 season.

"I thought we made a number of small strides in a number of areas," said Tech head coach Tyler Summitt. "We still have a long way to go. I thought our interior defense was better. That was a key for us coming into this game. Again, it's a good win and we are pleased with winning two on the road."

After FIU jumped to a 7-2 lead early, Louisiana Tech responded. A Brandi Wingate layup with 13:37 to play tied the game at 9-9 and Chrisstasia Walter scored 20 seconds later as Tech took its first lead at 11-9.

The game remained close with Tech holding a 22-20 lead with just over six minutes to play in the first half before finishing the half on a 12-3 run to take an 11-point lead into the locker room.

Tech hit 52 percent (16-31) of its shots in the first half while holding FIU to only 33 percent (10-30).

Any chance of a comeback was doused early in the second half as the Lady Techsters pushed the advantage to 50-27 with 16:06 remaining in the game. Tech hit six of its first seven shots following halftime and finished the game shooting 49 percent (32-66) for the game.

Shelton hit 8-of-13 field goals while adding five rebounds and four assists. Davenport hit 5-of-7 field goals while adding a career-high three blocks, two assists and a steal in 22 minutes.

Taylor Shade led FIU with 12 points while Marita Davydova and Nikolina Todorovic added 11 points each.

The Lady Techsters outrebounded one of the top rebounding teams in the league 43-37.
