@LATechWBB Hosts Charlotte Thursday

Feb. 18, 2015

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech will play its final two regular season home games this week starting with Thursday night's 6:30 p.m. match-up against Charlotte at the Thomas Assembly Center.

The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network with the pregame show starting at 6 p.m.

Tech (13-11, 8-5 C-USA) is fighting for a top four seed in the upcoming Conference USA Tournament in Birmingham and with five regular season games remaining, the Lady Techsters are tied with UAB for fourth place in the league standings. The top four teams will all receive a bye in the first round of the C-USA Tournament.

"We are taking it one game at a time," said Tech head coach Tyler Summitt. "We aren't even thinking about three weeks from now. We have to concentrate on being the best team we can be on Thursday night against a very good Charlotte team. We didn't play well in our last home stand. Charlotte will provide us a huge challenge, and we continue to look for that 40-minute game."

Tech enters the game after two straight road wins in Florida over FAU and FIU. The Lady Techsters are 6-3 at home this season after losses to UAB and Middle Tennessee in its last home-stand as they look to bounce back this week in the TAC.

Whitney Frazier (14.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg) and Kelia Shelton (13.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg) continue to pace LA Tech offensively although the Lady Techsters are receiving production throughout the lineup.

Charlotte (10-14, 6-6 C-USA) boasts three double digit scorers in Lefty Webster (13.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg), Hillary Sigmon (10.7 ppg, 35-85 three-pointers) and Kira Gordon (10.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg) as the 49ers are coming off an impressive 74-54 win over UTSA Saturday.

The series between the two teams is tied 1-1 with Charlotte winning in Ruston 85-61 and LA Tech prevailing at the C-USA Tournament in El Paso 64-55 - both games last season.
