POST-GAME NOTES
• LA Tech captains were Kentrell Brice, Vernon Butler, Kenneth Dixon and Jeff Driskel.
• Today's attendance: 20,010. This marks the 36th game with a crowd over 20,000 at Joe Aillet Stadium.
• With the 27-17 victory, the Bulldogs have now won six straight games at home. It is the longest home winning streak since 2007-08 when they strung together six straight.
• In the last six home victories, LA Tech's average margin of victory is 35 points.
• LA Tech improves to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in Conference USA play.
• LA Tech now leads the all-time series over FIU, 2-0. They have now held the Panthers to an average of 12 points per game.
• LA Tech improved to 4-3 all-time in "RED OUT" games. The Bulldogs have now won back-to-back "RED OUT" games for the first time.
• LA Tech won its 11th straight game when holding opponents to 20 points or less.
• FIU won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. This is the first game of the season that LA Tech began the game on offense.
OFFENSE
• The offense totaled 472 yards, bringing their season average to 522.5 yards per game. They have totaled at least 450 yards of offense in all four games this season, a first in program history. • LA Tech scored on its opening drive for the second time this season.
• The LA Tech offense had zero turnovers.
• Jeff Driskel has thrown a touchdown pass in all four games this season. He has also thrown for 200+ yards in four straight games, a first in his career.
• Kenneth Dixon has scored at least two touchdowns in nine of his last 11 games.
• Kenneth Dixon has now recorded a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the same game seven times.
• Kenneth Dixon registered three touchdowns, tying him with Montee Ball (Wisconsin) for second in the NCAA for most games with three or more touchdowns in a single game. This was his 11th such game.
• Kenneth Dixon is now tied for 10th in NCAA history for career rushing touchdowns. He now has 58, tied with Ian Johnson of Boise State.
• Kenneth Dixon is now tied for sixth in NCAA history for career overall touchdowns. He now has 68, tied with Brock Forsey (Boise State).
• With 169 yards rushing, it is game No. 20 for 100-plus yards for Dixon. It is also the seventh time he has rushed for 150 or more yards.
• The 25 rushing attempts was a season-high for Kenneth Dixon.
• Kenneth Dixon scored on the opening drive with a 63-yard rushing touchdown with 13:04 to go in the first quarter, giving LA Tech an early 7-0 lead. That marked his 57th career rushing TD and 66th overall TD.
• Dixon now has eight rushing touchdowns of 30 yards or more in his career. It was also the longest rush of the season that the FIU defense had allowed (previous long was 32 yards).
• Jeff Driskel hit Kenneth Dixon for a 23-yard touchdown pass with 8:13 left in the first quarter, giving LA Tech a 14-3 lead.
• Kenneth Dixon powered in for a 14-yard rushing touchdown with 12:52 left in the fourth quarter, giving LA Tech a 24-10 lead.
• Jarred Craft had a season-high in rushing attempts (7) and yards (43). The sophomore has missed most of the season with an injury.
• Jeff Driskel finished the game 18-for-32 with 226 passing yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 29 yards on six carries.
• Trent Taylor led the LA Tech receivers with seven receptions for 86 yards, while Paul Turner returned from injury to catch four passes for 36 yards.
DEFENSE
• The Bulldog defense held the Panthers to just 45 rushing yards with an average of 2.0 yards per carry. FIU's previous season low was 123 rushing yards.
• In their previous meeting, LA Tech held FIU to just 69 rushing yards and an average of 1.8 yards per carry.
• Senior linebacker Beau Fitte set a new career high in tackles with 14, including 2.5 tackles-for-loss which was also a career high.
• Senior defensive back Bryson Abraham set a career high with nine tackles. His previous high came on Nov. 17, 2012 versus Utah State.
• Defensive tackle Aaron Brown also registered a new career high with six tackles.
• Deldrick Canty and Matthew Ydarraga combined for a sack midway through the second quarter. For redshirt freshman Ydarraga, it was his first career sack.
• The Bulldogs had seven tackles for a loss of 21 yards. That marks the 15th time in the last 16 games they have had at least six.
SPECIAL TEAMS
• Jonathan Barnes hit on a 39-yard field goal with 2:19 remaining in the second quarter, giving LA Tech a 17-3 lead.
• Jonathan Barnes missed on a 45-yard field goal late in the third quarter. It was only his second miss of the season.
• Jonathan Barnes hit on a 28-yard field goal with 6:36 left in the fourth quarter, giving LA Tech a 27-10 advantage. He is now 9-of-11 on the season.
• Logan McPherson had two punts for 62 yards, an average of 31 yards per punt and one punt that landed inside the 20.
• Gerald Shouse also punted twice in against FIU for 89 yards and an average of 44.5 per punt. He booted his second punt this season of 50+ yards with a 52-yarder in the first quarter.
• Carlos Henderson had two kickoff returns to total 32 yards. That brought his career kickoff return total to 1,052, keeping him in ninth in program history.
